Family Ownership

In Paso Robles, where the land runs deep with character and stories age as gracefully as the wines, you’ll find Walter, Sylvia, and Le Vigne Winery.

What started as a working ranch quietly became one of Paso’s oldest estate wineries, recently honored as 2025 Winery of the Year by the Central Coast Wine Competition and the 2025 Paso Robles Winery of the Year from the New York International Wine Competition.

The story began in the early 1960s, when Sylvia Filippini’s family built a ranch, raising cattle, growing hay, and creating something lasting from the ground up. Long before wine took root, it was a life of early mornings, calloused hands, and quiet grit.

By the early 1980s, the first vines were planted: Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. Soon, the soil that once grew feed for livestock began shaping wines worth slowing down for.

Le Vigne remains family-run, estate-grown, and grounded in the same values: heritage, hard work, and hospitality.

Every bottle carries both history and an exceptional standard of excellence. Pour yourself a glass. You’re part of it now.

Meet the Executive Chef

The name Le Vigne — Italian for “The Vineyard” — reflects both the winery’s focus and the deep Italian roots of co-owner and executive chef Walter Filippini.

Raised in Como, Italy, Walter grew up among the vineyards of Valtellina before refining his craft at the Culinary Institute in San Pellegrino. In 1981, his passion for gastronomy earned him first place in Italy’s National Chef’s Competition.

Estate Vineyards

Domenico Estate Vineyard

The Domenico Estate Vineyard covers nearly 88 acres, divided into five distinct blocks surrounding the winery in the Salinas Valley. With clay loam soil, cool ocean breezes drifting in from the Templeton Gap, and significant day to night temperature shifts, the vineyard enjoys exceptional conditions for growing premium wine grapes.

The region’s Mediterranean climate, with mild winters, fog filled summer mornings, and limited rainfall, closely reflects the landscapes of Southern Italy, Greece, and the Southern Rhône Valley, making it a remarkable place to cultivate world class wines.

Acquarello Estate Vineyard

The 33-acre Acquarello Vineyard, located northeast of the winery near the coastal foothills, is named after the river’s “watercolor” effect on the landscape.

It features young plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sangiovese, and Petit Verdot. Positioned on the south bank of the Estrella River, its northward slope and cool air help balance early ripening from intense sunlight.
